Botulinum toxin Krakow

Botox, or the procedure of aesthetic medicine with the use of botulinum toxin is a popular aesthetic medicine treatment, which allows reducing wrinkles, as well as the prevention of their formation. Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin synthesized by Clostridium botulinum. Botulinum toxin inhibits the activity of acetylcholine – a neurotransmitter responsible for transferring impulses between nerves and muscles. As a result, botox is used for eliminating mimic wrinkles, as well as reducing hyperhidrosis. In our clinic we use the highest quality preparations – Botox and Azzalure; they are the best-known preparations with botulinum toxin type A. They are distinguished by high efficiency and safety of use.

Botox – smoothing wrinkles

Botox is used to remove mimic wrinkles as well as to prevent wrinkles from deepening. The limitation of facial expressions in the wrinkles area results in the immediate smoothing of the skin, in addition, it stops the formation of new wrinkles or deepening of the existing ones. Many people feel anxiety related to the inhibitory effect of botox on facial expressions. Doubts arise from the risk of obtaining so-called mask effect, that is, the unnaturally immobile face. In reality, however, there is no such risk – botox is administered precisely in the wrinkles area, which ensures selective action while maintaining the facial expressions of other facial areas.

Botox is used in the case of:

  • crow’s feet
  • smoker’s wrinkles
  • lion’s wrinkles
  • transverse forehead wrinkles
  • rabbit wrinkles
  • drooping mouth corners
  • drooping eyebrows

Botulinum toxin is also used to treat hands, armpits and feet hyperhidrosis.

Botox – the course of the procedure

Botulinum toxin treatment is safe, therefore it is not necessary to perform detailed examinations before the procedure. The only recommendations before the procedure are the abandonment of alcohol, as well as anti-inflammatory drugs, preparations containing St. John’s wort and vitamin supplements. The procedure itself lasts several minutes and does not require anesthesia. Botox is carried out with the help of several subcutaneous punctures. There is no specific botulinum toxin injection scheme, each treatment is planned individually to ensure the optimal rejuvenating effect.

Postoperative recommendations include avoiding tilting down the head for the first four hours after the procedure, as well as limiting the massaging of the injection areas. In addition, it is advisable to opt out of the use of the swimming pool or sauna, abandoning alcohol consumption, performing skin scrubs or intense physical exercise.

Possible side effects appear rarely and are temporary – they are small hematomas or swelling in the injection area. It is worth remembering that the botulinum toxin injection procedure should be performed in a reputable aesthetic medicine office and with the use of certified preparations only. Then the risk of complications is minimized.

The rejuvenating effect of Botox is noticeable after about 7 days and lasts for several months, after which the treatment can be repeated. The duration of the botox treatment effect is an individual matter and depends, among others from lifestyle and metabolic rate. Facial expression in certain areas is restored gradually, the mobility of muscles does not change from day to day.
